An IP address represents an Internet protocol address; is a identification number associated with a specific computer or computer network. After connection with Internet, an Internet protocol address allow to computers send and receive information.

An Internet Protocol (IP) address allows computers to send and receive data.

There are four types of Internet protocol addresses:  private, dynamic, static and public.
An IP address allows information to be sent and received by the appropriate organizations, which means that it can also be used to locate the user's location.
How does an IP address work
An IP address allows computers to send and receive data over the Internet. Most IP addresses are not only priced, but as internet usage increases, letters are added to other addresses.

There are four types of Internet protocol addresses:  private, dynamic, static and public. While public and private ones point to the location of the network - the secret that is used within the network while the public is used offline - the stagnant and powerful stance shows up permanently.

An IP address can be compared to a Social Security Number (SSN) because each one is completely different from the computer or user assigned to it. The design of these numbers allows routers to see where they are sending information online. They also ensure that the right devices receive the delivery. Just as a mail requires a postal address to deliver a package, a router requires an IP address to deliver to the requested web address.
